Strategic Energy® Powers Great Race For Clean Air
Retail Electricity Provider announces plans to provide
Offsets for Clean Air Competition
PITTSBURGH, Pa., June 11, 2008 – Strategic Energy announced plans to provide 50 MWhs of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to be used in conjunction with the Great Race for Clean Air, a friendly competition between Bay Area employers to encourage the use of alternative transportation to and from work. The Green-e Energy certified RECs will be used towards powering the competition’s kickoff summit to be held on June 12, 2008.
“Through our support for the Great Race for Clean Air, Strategic Energy is able to demonstrate a strong commitment to responsible energy use and environmentally sustainable business practices,” said Art Miller, Director of Marketing at Strategic Energy. “We are excited to participate in such a great cause.”
The kickoff summit will feature a number of workshops focusing on employee commute-benefit programs, marketing and communication strategies, and environmental education.
Strategic Energy also announced a plan to purchase carbon offsets for the participants’ travel to and from the event. Purchasing renewable energy credits and carbon offsets has proven to be highly effective in offsetting the toxic emissions produced by traditional non-renewable energy sources like oil and coal. The RECs purchased for the event will be generated from a wind farm located in the State of California.
