Strategic Energy Leads Effort to Protect Customer Interests

PITTSBURGH, PA, May 24, 2006 –  Strategic Energy L.L.C., a leading supplier of retail electricity in competitive markets, today introduced a “Statement of Principles for Marketing Retail Electricity” for New York customers. The new principles were developed by Strategic Energy in association with other industry participants, and adopted by more than 21 other Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) marketing electricity in New York State.

The new principles establish consistent standards of behavior for the protection of New York customers, who can now approach the benefits of electric competition with added confidence.

The NY Public Service Commission–was very pleased that the ESCO community has developed a voluntary Statement of Principles, which should provide added comfort to customers who are considering switching to alternative suppliers for electricity and natural gas.The NYPSC plans to reach out to all of the ESCOs who have decided not to participate in this voluntary ESCO undertaking to determine why they have chosen not to be included in this important effort.
