Here are some frequently asked questions about choosing an electricity provider that’s right for your business.

Of course I want a lower price, but what other factors should I consider when choosing an electricity provider?

Finding the most competitive price should always be considered, but many other issues may influence your decision. You should consider the electricity provider’s expertise, financial strength and their ability to offer a high level of service. Some electricity providers will emphasize that they are an affiliate of a utility company, while others may be independent of utilities. Sometimes, you may even choose to stay with your current utility because market conditions may not be favorable towards switching at that given point in time.

How do I find the right deal for my business?

Small and independent businesses or organizations may be able to join together through electricity pools, where an electricity provider may be able to offer the best price on behalf of the entire group. Or, individual organizations may find electricity providers who serve individual organizations with electricity products targeted towards their business profile.

Large energy customers should find electricity providers who are able to define and implement a customized energy strategy that suits their energy needs.

Will the lights always come on when I turn the switch?

State and federal government agencies insist on system reliability. Federal policies ensure that electricity will be available on a regulated national transmission system. State policies ensure that reliability remains high for the company that delivers energy to you over electric wires.
